Learn 3 simple strategies to help you stop playing small
I did a FB live recently on my page talking about being visible. You can watch the live here if you want to.
Being an introvert, I like hiding! I’m really happy and content in my own company, but I learned early on that hiding doesn’t bring business, and actually it doesn’t create life fulfilment either, we all need connection. (Ooh, that was deep for a moment haha)
In my FB live I shared some key points that I thought you might like to know about too, here’s some of them. You can catch the rest in the live if you want to.
- Get clarity
When being visible the big mistake I see people making is going all out shouting out about what they do, but not having crystal clarity. One day it’s one thing, the next day another. Hey, there’s no blame here, I’ve been there too.
When you set super clear goals you will find that you work much smarter in your business. You can’t set great goals though if you don’t get that clarity around what you are really trying to achieve first.
Just saying to yourself, ‘I want to get my business visible’ isn’t enough.
Why do you want to get visible?
Well I’m guessing you’re screaming at me now, “To get flippin’ clients, Ruby, of course!”
Well yes, but what type of clients? How many hours of work do you REALLY want to work in your business? What type of work do you want to do?
Knowing some of these things will help you set the right goals in the first place.
- Get focused
You’ve set your goals, now you have to keep focused. Nobody is going to tell you not to watch those the 5 minute hacks or not to complete the next personality test online. You have to be responsible and tell yourself that even when you’re not feeling motivated, you wouldn’t get away with just dropping everything and watching videos if you were in a full-time job. (Feel free to replace the online example with any number of your own procrastination tactics!)
What visibility action can you put in place that is going to bring actual money into your business?
I love using this mantra when I’m distracted – Action Producing Money – I pop it onto a little post it note if I’m in a scattered mood and it helps bring back the focus to me being a business owner. It doesn’t mean you don’t connect with people and it’s all about money, it just means that you keep focused on the right things.
- Get accountability
It can be lonely being a solopreneur, you have to be one seriously motivated person to build a business. One of the things I’ve learned is that to get loads of things done I have to have people around me to hold me accountable.
I work with 3-4, sometimes, 5 accountability partners at any one time, all on different areas of business. By declaring to someone that I’m going to do something, I’m way more likely to get it off my list and done. I don’t know about you, but I find it a bit embarrassing saying I’ll get something done and then not doing it!
Maybe it’s not a person you declare your commitment to, maybe you do a social media post to tell people what you want to achieve. I know that strategy has worked really well for me in the past.

I know a lot of people know what they need to do, but they just don’t do it for one reason or another. They get to the end of their business day and wonder where the time went. If this is you, then let me be your personal accountability partner for the next 52-weeks. I’ll hold you accountable on a weekly basis to just get stuff done already and get your business visible. Find out more in my Ruby’s Gems accountability programme.
Each week you get an email from me inviting you to share your goals and progress from the previous week.
This programme is all about KISS-ing – Keeping It Simple Sweetie. It’s back to basics. There’s no fancy schmancy groups, no videos to watch, nothing to download, it’s just you and me working together without the price tag of 1:1 coaching/mentoring. Whether it’s me or someone else that holds you accountable, make sure you get the support you need.
This is what’s important in business, go back to basics. Get clarity and focus, figure out what’s distracting you and take action.
So there you have it, 3 tips for taking your visibility more seriously:
- Get clarity
- Get focused
- Get accountability
If you want help from me as early as this Friday, then come and join my fabulous Ruby’s Gems programme, and let me kick your butt for the next 52-weeks!

If you’re a guy then please change the names to Lord, Count, Prince and King) Once you’ve got your score I’d love for you to come on over to my pinned post on my business page and tell me what score you got. There’s a chance to win a little prize each month.
Also, I would love to interview Ladies, Countesses, Princesses & Queens on my podcast show, Rock Your Fabulous Biz. I’ll be asking you all about what you do on visibility right now, what’s working for you, what’s not and where you’d like to be. If you’re interested then apply for your spot here – http://bit.ly/PodVisQuiz. In order for your application to be considered, you’ll need to have completed the quiz though as I’ll need to know what you’ve scored etc.
