Hi there, if you’ve been following along then you will know that I’m taking part in the 30 Day Blogging Challenge with Sarah Arrow (for the 2nd time) and combining it with a content challenge that was running last month in Jenn Scalia’s Little Black Business Book membership group. Today is day 14 of the challenge – Why Offline Networking Is As Important As Online.
- It can help boost your confidence
- It can help boost your mindset
- It allows you to build connections and online business relationships and friendships
- It allows you to practice talking about what you do
- It allows you to test and brainstorm some ideas
- It is healthy!
Action: Let me know in the comments below what you have found helpful in networking offline.
Ps – If you’re struggling to find paying clients, or simply want more of them, I’ve created a fab little freebie for you. Just fill in your details below and it will be winging its way over to your inbox in no time!

I think oyu need to carefully pick where you network as well , with so many fornmats and times you need to find the right fit. Where do you network Ruby?
I totally agree Kevin. I go to a couple of local networking meetings and also a monthly meeting in Warwick, about an hour and a half from me. Networking is the one area that I find easy to wiggle out of so have to put the date in my diary and make sure I go. I can always think of excuses for other work I should be doing! I’ve tried a lot of them, BNI, Athena etc. They are all quite different – maybe that’s another blog post!

I think we often forget there are real people out there not just our virtual communities. Great post and a timely reminder. Thank you
Yes, you’re right Lara, it’s so easy to do. Glad it was timely too

Don’t we just Lara. It took me a long time for that bit to sink in. I think there are some that can do just virtual but for me I was feeling lonely and wanted to bounce ideas off people, even if it’s only 1 or 2 meetings it still helps

I think it’s so important to keep in touch and network in person too. It hones a different skill-set.

It is really important to keep that balance between real & virtual I think. Good post Ruby & love the video!

Yes, it is a balance and one that we often have to work on when doing so much online.

I do get so caught up in the online ‘stuff’ but I like informing others about what I do. I belong to a sewing circle, and after two months of no meetings due to summer holidays, it was nice to get back together, and have several of the women talk about how they enjoyed reading my travel blog posts!
Your sewing circle sounds fun. I can’t sew to save my life – well actually I can and have but it doesn’t float my boat as much as other creative things but I totally get how fun it can be talking about craftiness! How fab that you are getting that feedback from them Michele, it makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it!
