How Feeling The Fear Can Get You Clients

Welcome to day 12 of my 30 day Blogging Challenge – A series called From Zero Confidence To Feeling More Fabulous in 30 Days.  If you missed Day One’s post you can read it here and can follow the series through from there.  I’m going to be writing about confidence and each day sharing some tips for building your confidence slowly.  The tools and hints/tips I’m sharing can be used for you or your coaching clients but for now I want you to focus on you.  Building your confidence can have a great impact on your business and life.  You will be amazed at what you can do when you feel more confident.

Yesterday we talked about the power of reflection and how it can help with confidence. Today I want to talk to you about how pushing through your fears can help boost your confidence and gain you clients in the process.

Let me introduce you to one of my lovely clients, Chloe Tasch, aka The Stepmum Coach, who has kindly allowed me to share her story with you.  Chloe came to me a while back when she was in transition with two coaching businesses.  She wanted to take the leap into building her newer business, The Stepmum Coach, but was very aware that she’d spent time building up her other coaching business, Be Your Best You.  She approached me to enquire about my Cappuccino Coaching Club where I teach coaches how to run their own group life coaching sessions.  Chloe was limited in time so needed something that she could use to hit the ground running, something ‘done for her’ rather than something she needed to create from scratch.

She was incredibly motivated from day one and using content from the Cappuccino Coaching Club she decided to run her first group session as a pilot taster session.  She booked the event, promoted it in various places and then not long before the session she found it the venue couldn’t accommodate her so she ended up having to think on her feet quickly and find another venue.   She sorted another venue, ran the taster session and then decided to run the next session from her home with 4 clients.

The clients absolutely loved the first session and she even walked away with one paying client.

  • Was she scared about putting herself out there initially?  Yes of course
  • Did it pay off to step up her confidence by 10%?  Yes it did
  • Did adding a few posts on social media scare her?  Yes, but she decided it was what she needed to do to get those sessions filled up
  • Was she glad she’d carried on promoting her event, despite it appearing as if the odds were stacked against her?  Absolutely, she now has the same 4 clients as regulars for her group coaching sessions and 2 more of them are now working with her 121.

Chloe was already very confident but this was new territory so she had to step up a bit more and put herself out there which is scary, as we all know.   She was also more than able to create her own group coaching sessions but decided to invest in the Club and have the work done for her so that she could focus on running the sessions and building her businesses.  This goes back to a great outsourcing post I read the other day from a fellow 30 day blogger, Ed Akehurst, outsource where you can if it will enable you to promote your business.

This is what she said after her first session;

Chloe Testimonial

Would she have felt that fired up if she hadn’t pushed herself to go through her comfort zone and take action?  Probably not.  She now loves running regular sessions and is doing great!  All because she took that first step.

Now you need to watch out for this girl, it’s her intention to be on GMTV (and she will – she has the right attitude!)  Ps. If you know of anybody in that arena pass on her name, she’d love you forever!!)  You can find Chloe over on her website and Facebook.

Today’s Task

Think about some of the areas you’re avoiding and apply the 3 dare rule.

I dare you to choose 3 things you’re avoiding taking action on, share in the comments what 3 things you’re going to choose, or even just one if that feels a big enough stretch for you, and then TAKE ACTION on it – one teeny weeny baby step!

As a result of this simple dare to yourself you will be amazed at what you can achieve. I’ve had clients writing books, training in new careers, running workshops and all sorts of things just by pushing through their fear no matter what.  Yes it’s scary, yes it means you have to put yourself out there but it’s SO worth it!

If Chloe can push through her comfort zones then so can you!

So today we’ve explored the value of pushing through your comfort zones and how it can boost your confidence and I’ve set you a dare!   Leave me a comment below to let me know what you’ve chosen as your one thing to focus on today as your dare.

Great post (and thanks for the kind words)! Very inspiring!

Success begins outside the comfort zone. The nice thing about it, though, is once a person sees that for themselves, it gets easier and easier to step outside that zone. It’s the first time that’s hardest. Kudo’s to you and your amazing client.

  2. Well written and challenging.
I like the way you slip these tips in without me noticing. It’s only when I do something you’ve suggested I think “Just a minute, I’m sure that’s one of Ruby’s.”

    Good post!

Love it! I think I am feeling the fear every day I am running my business! Lol. Doing something new is always scary but as long as it is good scary then it is the right thing to do. I’m about to start marketing my brand new networking group so I have to then turn up and run it! Eek

    • Yes, I’m with you on that one Lyn. I’ve just done exactly the same thing. Sometimes putting it out there and declaring it is the only thing that makes it happen!
