Hi there, if you’ve been following along then you will know that I’m taking part in the 30 Day Blogging Challenge with Sarah Arrow (for the 2nd time) and combining it with a content challenge that was running last month in Jenn Scalia’s Little Black Business Book membership group. Today is day 12 of the challenge – I’m sharing how changing your working hours can benefit your biz & family.
Running a business around a family can be tough sometimes, you’re drawn in different directions. In today’s video, I’m sharing how I’ve got a good balance for me and my family for the holidays.
What I didn’t say in the video is that when I was working part-time in my HR role I was actually doing full time hours, so I was starting at 7.00/7.30am and finishing at 2.30pm and then working again when I got back, often well into the early hours. Partly through doing compressed hours, and the rest of it through feeling guilty that I wasn’t putting enough work in. It’s this guilt that can eat away at us. We don’t feel like we’re doing either ‘job’ (that of parent or employee/business) very well. Find a way that works for you so that you can kick that guilt into touch – this method is what works for me. Have fun figuring it out.
Action: Let me know in the comments below how you balance it all. If you’re not a parent it doesn’t matter, how do you make your hours work for you in your business?
Ps – If you’re struggling to find paying clients, or simply want more of them, I’ve created a fab little freebie for you. Just fill in your details below and it will be winging its way over to your inbox in no time!
**Please note by signing up you will be added to my mailing list where I send out a weekly newsletter with some hints and tips to help you build your coaching business **

When I was a teacher (for 25 years) I had a hard time with the balance, and almost always brought work home. I remember grading papers at sports practices, during TV shows (they watched, I listened and graded) and on trips during the plane rides! But, I always looked at the reward of the summer (though I always planned then as well, but not the incredible hours I kept during the school year!)
I’ve had a few teaching clients in the past that have been working towards building a coaching practice Michele and know some of the incredible hours and strict criteria they have to work within. It’s a fine balance and I’m not sure it can ever be perfect but it’s worth trying new things.

I haven’t been doing a good job at balancing my work and personal life, especially this past week. Just finished a re-branding and launched my newly updated website. My hubby just asked if I was ever going to take a break. So much for scheduling down time. I’ll be better tomorrow.

I think there are always peaks in our businesses where we have to go all out to make things happen, but it’s important that it doesn’t become the norm. Hope you get that down time you deserve

It’s a great idea. I used to be a morning person, but of late I find it easier to work late into the night. However, I don’t quiet like the idea. Am going to try getting up early again. Let’s see how it goes.
Loved the video – most natural and interesting!
