Tomatoes Can Make You More Productive!

Who knew!!

Ok so saying tomatoes can make you more productive is a bit tongue in cheek, however there is a really clever time management concept out there called The Pomodoro Technique.  It is a brilliant way to help you stay productive.  You can watch the video by clicking the link above but in a nutshell you basically use a timer for 25 minutes and work on your task, no distractions or disruptions, just  100% focused on the task in hand.

You know those really annoying tasks that keep piling up – the ones you know you ‘should’ do but you keep putting them off?  The tax return, the blog update, the email you need to send??   Use a timer on those.  Just tell yourself you will do that particular task for 25 minutes.  If you really need me to pin you down because you feel 25 minutes is too long then do it for 10 minutes but whatever you do just START!!!!  Often we put tasks off because we make them into this ginormous mountain and we don’t need to!

When you’re working as a new Coach it’s so easy to get distracted with all of the information out there – there’s a webinar for this and that, a free call for something else and there really are some amazing things out there to watch and listen.  The trouble is if you get too distracted by all of these shiny things you could spend all day watching webinars and no time spent on work.

You need to do marketing to get clients through your door.  That horrible ‘M’ word that scares the pants off you can actually be ok if you just spend a few minutes on it, consistently, as often as you can.  If you’ve signed up to my newsletter recently you will have received my mini eBook where I share with you that marketing as a Coach can take up to over 50% of your working time.  If you’re not doing it you won’t have any clients to coach – it’s as simple as that.  Ok, yes you could get lucky and can get a stream of word of mouth clients but what about when that dries up?  You still need a strategy for bringing in new clients into your business.  So don’t be afraid of that or any other task that you’re putting off.  Just roll your sleeves up and get working on it.  You might be surprised, you might even enjoy it once you’ve done something on it.

Now I want you to imagine that horrible task and how you’ll feel once you’ve started it and made some progress.  What will you be once you’ve achieved it?  Will you be happier, clearer in your mind?  What will you do?  Jump up and down with excitement that you’ve actually started?  Treat yourself to something nice as a reward?  What will you have?  A sense of achievement, a glass of wine?!!  You CAN do this and so much more, just take one teeny weeny step at a time!

Feels good, doesn’t it!
