I’m sharing a post with you today, ‘Be careful what you wish for’ from Ros Kitson who is a Kinesiologist. Ros was a guest in my Be My Guest Interview Series some time ago and we talked about her writing another post for you on something a bit different.
So let me introduce you to the lovely Ros and then she will share her thoughts with you.
Ros is passionate about personal development. After suffering from depression in the late nineties, she discovered various holistic therapies and found that she could get better without taking medication. She has continued to get better ever since and now is living a happy and healthy life, helping others do the same.

She discovered kinesiology during her recovery and immediately knew it was the one for her. Having received kinesiology treatments for many years, and now has been offering them for many years, she is still in awe of how insightful and effective it is.
Ros has been qualified since 2006 and works from the Wellbeing Centre in Newbury, Berkshire and Herongate Leisure in Hungerford, Berkshire.
Over to Ros …
We all know about the law of attraction – we attract what we put out into the universe. And I’m guessing most of the readership of this blog will put this into action as consciously as they can in their lives.
However sometimes we find we don’t seem to be receiving what we want even though we think we’re doing all the right things. Or we can’t seem to get ourselves to do the things we know we ought to be doing.
The thing I’ve noticed as a healer running her own business is that I manifest things much quicker these days than it ever used to. However, this means that I manifest things I put out there in passing when I didn’t really mean to. Last autumn, I decided I needed a bit of a break as I’d been a bit unwell but my business practically dried up for 2 months. I’d meant just a week, or maybe 2! Then recently I moved house and my time was justifiably taken up with packing and unpacking. This time I was a bit more careful with my thoughts but I did want more time and the client hours still dropped for that period.
Be careful what you wish for as the universe will be delighted to grant you it.
When we start in self-employment, fears can come up that have previously lain hidden. Suddenly we are responsible for everything and often we are working by ourselves for a lot of the time. I had many of these fears, so I’d make excuses for not taking action. These fears, often subconscious were drawing me in the opposite direction from where I was saying I wanted to be going. And as the fears were pretty strong, guess which direction won?
So during those times of safety at home, I worked on myself. I worked on removing the fears. I worked on learning who I was and building the confidence to put myself out there exactly as I am. And I’m pleased to say that as I got more confident, I began to take different actions which produced different and better results.
For ages, I thought I could hide behind these fears; I thought I could make my business a success without dealing with them. How wrong I was.
I looked at what other people were doing and if they seemed to be getting results quite easily, I’d wonder if I should copy them. Firstly I failed to appreciate how much energy they were probably putting into their business. And secondly these activities were often not authentic to who I am. Please note that what is one person’s truth is often not authentic for another person. If it is not authentic for you, it won’t bring positive results.
I totally believe that in order to be a success in the world of healing and personal development, we need to be aligned with our higher truth. Most of us are doing this work because we feel called to and the universe seems to demand impeccability in this industry.
This means that once we’ve cleared the fears, we have to dig deep and find out what we are being called to do. Once the fears have been reduced, this can be easily done by sitting quietly and meditating on the subject.
However, putting these ideas into action may well bring up new fears. That seems to be quite normal as we continue to push ourselves out of our comfort zones to be more and better in our service.
This isn’t some airy-fairy idea. If we are not aligned with what we are saying we want, we won’t be taking the same action with the same intention as if we were.
I wonder whether I would have offered to write this guest blog and then written it the same afternoon, if this was a few years ago. I would think probably not. Fears would have possibly caused me to procrastinate.
So, if you are taking action but not getting results, I invite you to do some work on yourselves, either on your own or with a fellow coach or therapist.
Thanks Ros, for spending some time with us. It’s been great having you here. Time and time again I hear clients comparing and trying to be like others, when they just need to be their fabulous selves!

Speaking of wishing – do you wish you had more money coming into your coaching business?
When I started out as a new coach I needed to get my name out there in the local area, I wanted to share what I did with others but found it really hard to find clients to work with. I set up some group coaching sessions called Cappuccino Coaching Sessions and absolutely loved them!
Working with a small group of people at a time I was able to help people create change, build my reputation (and coaching skills) and start making some money from it. (Imagine the programme ‘Friends’ with some fabulous coaching thrown in and that gives you a flavour of what they are like) I also then went on to get paying clients from it so it was a win:win. I now run an online group coaching programme called Cappuccino Coaching Club where I give you all the tools, hints, tips and support that you need to run your own sessions. Come and join a lovely group of coaches who are out there starting to run their own sessions and loving it!
ps - if you haven’t signed up to my newsletter yet then you can do so below. Each week I share bitesize coaching hints and tips for boosting your coaching confidence, skills and business. Know other Coaches? Send them my way ![]()
